Founded in 2000 by an art connoisseur and gallery owner with the desire to create the perfect cashmere knit, GANNI has exponentially evolved over the years with its Scandi 2.0 style sense full of personality and contrasts. GANNI is based in Copenhagen and has been owned and run by creative team Ditte Reffstrup and founder Nicolaj Reffstrup since 2009.

The History of Ganni

Ganni was founded in 2000 by Frans Truelsen as a cashmere clothing line. In 2009, the Reffstrups took over the company with Ditte Reffstrup as creative director and Nicolaj Reffstrup as CEO. Ditte Reffstrup started her career as a clothing buyer for Danish and Parisian brands. Nicolaj Reffstrup, a graduate of Copenhagen Business School and holding a master's degree from the IT University of Copenhagen, is a former tech entrepreneur.

In 2019, the brand launched a Danish initiative called Ganni Repeat, allowing garments to be rented for up to three weeks at a time in Copenhagen. During Copenhagen Fashion Week in 2020, Ganni announced an expansion of Ganni Repeat to Europe and the United States in collaboration with Levi's. The joint collection, named 'Love Letter', consists of upcycled denim pieces.

The Danish brand Ganni was revitalized nine years ago by the husband-and-wife duo Ditte and Nicolaj Reffstrup. They ensured that Ganni ultimately became the designer label that every popular girl on your Instagram feed wears.
